An unsigned app may trigger an unknown-publisher or reputation warning in Windows. Digital signing and a matching checksum are different checks; neither is a complete security guarantee.
A checksum lets you compare your downloaded file with the release described here. If it differs, or your security software reports a threat, do not run the file and contact us. Disabling protection or bypassing a warning is not a required step.
How do I compare the checksum on Windows?
In PowerShell, use the command below with the path to your downloaded file. It only reads the checksum and does not run the installer. The resulting Hash should match the SHA-256 above.

Permissions are your choice
Microphone and Windows notification access are enabled separately in the pet’s settings; neither is required for basic use. Choose notification sources, text visibility and quiet hours. Notification text stays on your computer and is not sent through notebook sync.
Cloud Notes and reminders
Local notes do not require an account. Linked notes and reminders sync between Windows and the web. In default account mode, the server holds a protected key copy and can technically decrypt content. You may choose private-key mode separately; we cannot recover a lost private key.
Account-mode reminder email is initially enabled and can be disabled in your notebook. Private-key mode requires a separate email opt-in. Emails do not include your private reminder text. Revoking a device connection does not erase copies it has already downloaded.
Data handling and deletionUpdates and removal
Automatic updates are initially enabled in the current app and can be turned off in settings. Current versions do not include a separate uninstaller; turn off Start with Windows, close the pet and follow the guide to remove only that pet’s folder and shortcuts.
