How to install a desktop pet on Windows
From downloading a ready-made pet to its first launch: follow the path that matches your purchase.
1. Choose an available pet
Open the product page, preview its actions and check the platform. A version marked In testing may not have a public download yet.
2. Download from your library or the Fredo page
The Fredo demo downloads directly from its page and needs no activation code. A purchased pet appears in My pets after payment confirmation, where you can download it again.
3. Run the installer
Use the official Fredo download link and follow the installer steps. If Windows shows a security warning, verify the file source and contact us; disabling protection is not an installation step.
4. Activate and adjust settings
If a paid pet requests activation, use the access associated with your purchase. Explore the available actions, sound and update settings in the menu. Microphone and notification access are separate choices.

Notes and reminders, beside your pet
Colored notes, scheduled reminders and automatic sync with your Fredo account.
- Notes
- Create colored notes, change color and text formatting, and search your collection. Pop out opens a movable sticky window that stays on screen when you close the list. Pop in returns it to the list. On the web, drag the whole note and neighboring records move aside as you drag. Compact view shows a thin, single-line list. Keyboard arrows also rearrange records.
- Reminders
- Choose a date and time or a quick interval. Your running pet delivers a bubble and gentle sound. Snooze for five minutes or complete from the bubble. On the web, choose 5, 15 or 30 minutes, 1 or 3 hours, or a specific date and time. Reminders also support Pop out, rearranging and compact view. Enabled email reminders reach your registered email even when the browser is closed. Private-key mode requires a separate opt-in.
- Sync through activation
- Activated pets automatically use their Fredo account and start syncing without separate pairing or another key. Local use needs no account. The free Fredo demo needs one initial account sign-in for sync.
- Choose your protection
- Content is encrypted on your device and stored encrypted on the server. Default account recovery protects a key copy on the server, so the server can technically decrypt content. You can enable private-key mode in Notebook protection: keep the key safe, because new devices will need it. Existing private vaults are never switched automatically.
Your Windows pet must be running for its bubble; the web page must be open for its bubble and sound. Enabled email reminders reach your account email even when the browser is closed. In private-key mode, email reminders require a separate opt-in.
How do I remove a pet from my computer?
These versions do not include a separate uninstaller. Each pet is installed in its own folder.
- Open Settings → Startup in the pet’s menu and turn off Start with Windows. Then close the pet.
- Right-click this pet’s Desktop or Start menu shortcut and select Open file location. If that opens a folder of shortcuts, repeat Open file location on this pet’s shortcut, or check its Target in Properties: it should point to the pet’s .exe file.
- Check that the folder belongs only to this pet. Examples: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Fredo Desktop, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Miso Desktop or %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Kiwi [468b6d7a]. Delete only this specific pet’s installation folder.
- Remove only this pet’s shortcuts from the Desktop and Start menu.
Do not delete the whole Programs folder, other pets or personal data. Removing the local app does not delete your online purchase or My pets library; you can download it again from your account.
