Notes, reminders and sync
Colored records, snooze, sticky windows and your account — in the app and on the web.
1. Update your pet
Updated Windows pets have Notes and Reminders in their menu. If an older app cannot update automatically or updates are disabled, download its current installer from your account. Settings remain preserved.
2. Create a note
Choose Add. New notes rotate through colors; change color and formatting in the editor. Save, search or Pop out into a movable window. Closing the list keeps that window on screen until you close it individually. Pop in returns it. On the web, drag the whole note and neighboring records move aside as you drag. Compact view shows thin, single-line rows. Keyboard arrows also rearrange records. These controls also work for reminders.
3. Schedule a reminder
Choose a quick interval or separate month, day, year, hour and minute fields. Click a field to expand its scroll choices. Your running pet delivers a bubble and sound. The bubble snoozes for five minutes. On the web choose 5, 15 or 30 minutes, 1 or 3 hours, or a specific date and time. Completed reminders are green, snoozed yellow and overdue red. Sound can be disabled in settings.
4. Sync through activation
Activated pets automatically use their existing account and start syncing. Default mode needs no separate pairing or another key. Sign in at fredo.ge/notes with that account, or activate a pet on another device. The free Fredo demo has no activation account and needs one initial sign-in for sync. Local notes work without an account.
5. Optional private key
Default mode encrypts content and protects a recovery key copy on the server; the server can technically decrypt it. Notebook protection lets you enable private-key mode and disable account recovery. Save your key securely first: lost private keys cannot be recovered. This mode needs your key once on new devices. Existing private vaults stay private; after unlocking, you may choose account recovery. Enter a saved key in the app’s sync window. The app rechecks a protection-mode change automatically; choose Retry sync to check immediately. Historical backups made in account mode may retain account recovery.
6. Connection and delivery
Offline edits sync when the connection returns; concurrent edits are preserved as separate copies. Your Windows pet must be running for reminders: a powered-off computer or a closed browser cannot deliver them.
